On this page
Filed has two surfaces. The toolbar fires instantly: one click and it's saved. The side panel lets you review, compose blocks, and add a note before saving. Every capture type is available from both.
URL save
Free
The fastest capture. Saves the page title, URL, favicon (as Notion page icon), and OG cover image (as page cover). No body content. Just the reference.
From the toolbar: Click URL in the Instant zone. Saves immediately, orb confirms.
From the side panel: Open the side panel and click Save without adding any content blocks.
What lands in Notion: Page title, full URL, favicon, cover image. Type: Link.
Quick Capture
Free
Save the current page without opening the toolbar. A toast confirms the save at the bottom of the page.
Shortcut: ⌘⇧Y on Mac · Ctrl+Shift+Y on Windows
What it captures: Same as URL save: title, URL, cover image. Uses your last-used workflow automatically.
With text selected: If you have text selected when you press the shortcut, the selection is saved as a quote block instead of the full URL.
Note: Quick Capture doesn't work on
chrome://pages, the Chrome Web Store, or the PDF viewer. Chrome restricts extension access there.
Article capture
Free
Extracts the full article body and converts it to Notion blocks: headings, paragraphs, bullet and numbered lists (nested), checkboxes, tables, code blocks, blockquotes, images, and video embeds. The article is readable inside Notion without visiting the original page.
From the toolbar: Click Article in the Instant zone. Extracts and saves immediately, no review.
From the side panel: Click + → Article content. The block appears with a loading state while the content extracts. Edit the title or add a note, then click Save.
Limitations:
- Notion enforces a 1,000-block limit per page. Very long articles are truncated at that limit.
- Paywalled content: Filed captures only what's visible in the browser. If you can read it, Filed can capture it.
- Highly JavaScript-rendered pages or SPAs may produce incomplete extraction. Use URL save instead.
PDF capture
Free
Generates a full PDF of the current page using Chrome's built-in print engine. The result is searchable and selectable. Saves to Notion as a downloadable file attachment.
From the toolbar: Click PDF in the Instant zone. The PDF generates in the background, the orb confirms when done.
Note: Chrome shows a "DevTools is debugging this tab" notice for 1–3 seconds while the PDF generates. This is a browser-enforced indicator that cannot be suppressed.
Limitations: Not available on chrome:// pages, the Chrome Web Store, or the PDF viewer.
YouTube site extract
Free (basic) Pro (transcript)
When you're on a YouTube video page, the toolbar shows a contextual Save video or Save short button. This is the only platform-specific capture in Filed.
What it captures:
- Video title, channel name, description, thumbnail
- The video embedded as a playable block in Notion
- Full transcript (Pro): appended as a collapsible block in Notion
Toggle the YouTube transcript in Settings → Capture → YouTube transcript.
