Keyboard Shortcuts

Hands on the keyboard

Three shortcuts to open Filed, capture the current page, and start highlighting, without touching the mouse.

Keyboard shortcuts

| Shortcut | Action | |---|---| | ⌘⇧K / Ctrl+Shift+K | Toggle the Filed toolbar on the current page | | ⌘⇧Y / Ctrl+Shift+Y | Quick Capture: save current page instantly, no popup | | ⌘⇧H / Ctrl+Shift+H | Start highlighting on the current page |

Customizing shortcuts: Go to chrome://extensions/shortcuts → find Filed → edit any shortcut.

Notes on shortcut behavior

Toggle toolbar (⌘⇧K) opens or closes the Filed toolbar. Also opens the side panel if the toolbar is already open.

Quick Capture (⌘⇧Y) works on most pages. It doesn't work on chrome:// pages, the Chrome Web Store, or the PDF viewer. Chrome restricts extension access there.

Start highlighting (⌘⇧H) activates highlight mode. Subsequent text selections will show the selection toolbar with Highlight available (Pro).

Conflict with other extensions

If a shortcut isn't triggering, another extension may have claimed it. Chrome gives each shortcut to only one extension.

  1. Go to chrome://extensions/shortcuts
  2. Find Filed in the list
  3. Click the edit icon next to the conflicting shortcut
  4. Enter a new key combination

Shortcuts are global to Chrome, not per-tab.
